The Knoxville Marathon will come through Island Home for miles 21-22 on Sunday, April 6th. The race begins at 7:30 am, and wheelchair racers will come through the neighborhood around 8:45, followed by other racers from 9:20 until 2:00 pm.
We will have a water station located on Willis near the Tennessee School for the Deaf gate. This is also serves as our designated viewing area and main cheering section for the neighborhood. We will also have signs up throughout the neighborhood, yard decorations, and festivities all along the route.
We encourage neighbors to participate through any of the following activities:
- Helping set up the water station at 8:15 am.
- Helping at the water station between 9:20 am-12:00 pm to help fill water cups and prepare snacks.
- Participating at your home if it’s on the course route with decorations, costumes, and noisemakers to cheer on the runners.
We hope everyone will help carry on the tradition of supporting the runners! Anyone with questions should contact Tasha Schwinn.
We encourage you to explore the full course map and plan around road closures during the race.
